Can I Be Your Person?
In this activity, students will try to convince a dog to let them be their person. First, they sort the reasons why the dog thinks he should be their person. They sort the arguments into three categories: 1. Very Persuasive Arguments
2. Good arguments or 3. Unconvincing Arguments.
(Be sure to have them justify their answers.)
Next, student use the organizers to jot down their own ideas about why they should be that dog's person. Finally, they can use the dog paper for publishing their writing.
Optional Reading Connection!!!! (If you would like to do this activity in conjunction with the book, “Can I Be Your Dog?” You can use the following page to have your students sort the reasons by the houses he writes to. )
