Westward We Go!
You’ve just picked up the paper and a headline catches your eye. “One hundred and sixty acres of prime western real estate can be yours for almost nothing!”
As you read on, you learn the government has just passed the Homestead Act which gives anyone over 21, head of a family and a U.S. citizen the right to claim 160 acres of public land provided they live on and improve the land or pay $1.25 per acre. The land is in the west in areas that have just been admitted into the Union. You think this is a grand idea and rush down to pay your filing fee (just $10!) for the land.

When you arrive, the clerk tells you there has been a terrible mistake, the ownership documents were accidentally locked away in the safe. The boss is out of town for a week and he’s the only one that knows the combination. The only way you can file your claim is if you can help unlock the safe. He knows it has something to do with this...
And something to do with these events...But What?
Hmmm... You take a look at the lock so many colors. What does it all mean?
